Contribution Guidelines

Learn how to effectively contribute to the Tor Project and make a meaningful impact on privacy and internet freedom

  • Code Contributions: Follow our coding standards, submit pull requests through GitLab, and participate in code reviews. Check our issue tracker for good first contributions.
  • Bug Reports: Use our support portal for user issues or GitLab issues for technical bugs. Include detailed reproduction steps and system information.
  • Security Research: Responsible disclosure through our HackerOne program. We offer bounties for qualifying security vulnerabilities and welcome academic research collaboration.
  • Documentation: Improve user guides, developer documentation, and educational materials. All documentation is version-controlled and community-editable through our community portal.
  • Community Support: Help other users on our forum, Reddit, and support channels. Share knowledge and welcome newcomers to the community.
